Keith Mackenzie

Keith Mackenzie is an award-winning playwright based in Perthshire, Scotland, and a founder member of The Wee Perthshire Dram-a Company. With many years of experience performing on stage, he brings a sharp sense of humour and a strong instinct for character to his work, writing and exploring stories that connect with audiences.

His plays are created with performance firmly in mind: memorable characters, strong relationships, manageable casts and staging that gives directors and actors genuine creative freedom. His work includes comedy, intimate drama, psychological theatre, Scottish folklore and more imaginative theatrical worlds. The plays aim to entertain first, while also leaving audiences with something to consider after the curtain falls. Many are particularly well suited to festivals and smaller venues, requiring little elaborate staging and allowing directors flexibility in how they are presented.

A Thousand Invisible Choices won the Geoffrey Whitworth Trophy in 2026 for the best original script entered across the United Kingdom’s four national one-act drama competitions. It also received the Scott Salver for Best Original Script in the 2026 Scottish Community Drama Association Festival. Performed by The Wee Perthshire Dram-a Company, the play reached the Scottish One-Act Final at Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
