Synopsis
Gairloch, 1987; a simple hotel room mix-up leads to an unexpected connection between two complete strangers.
Set against the stark beauty of the Scottish north-west coast, A Thousand Invisible Choices is a bittersweet play about hope, trust and what happens when two damaged people meet at exactly the right moment.
Eve has returned to Gairloch for her father's funeral, carrying unresolved grief and the scars of an abusive marriage, while Cam arrives with troubles of his own and every reason to keep moving. Neither is looking for friendship, yet over the course of twenty-four hours, an unlikely connection begins to grow. When an unexpected opportunity offers the possibility of a different future, trust is tested, and each must decide whether to keep running from the past or finally face it.

Written around two substantial central roles, A Thousand Invisible Choices offers both actors a rich emotional journey, with each also taking on a small number of brief supporting characters as the story moves between different moments and locations. These shifts may be created through lighting, sound and minimal changes of set, giving directors considerable freedom to shape the world of the play in their own way. Its successful journey through the one-act festival circuit reflects both the strength of the writing and the opportunities it offers performers and directors alike.
